Introduction

China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) is a national key university focusing on Legal Science and covering Political Science, Literature, Historical Science, Philosophy, Economics, Management Science and other majors. Its predecessor is Beijing Politics and Law Institute, which was founded in 1952 by the merge of the disciplines of law, political science and sociology of Peking University, Yenching University, FuRen University and Tsinghua University.

China University of Political Science and Law is the highest institute for legal education in China and serves as an important base for fostering high-level political and legal talents in China. At present, the university boasts 17 undergraduate majors, 18 doctorate stations and 45 master’s majors. It is now one of the seven universities who have the authority to set up undergraduate majors ratified by the Ministry of Education, P. R. China.

Fees

Class for Advanced Chinese Training
Application fee is 350 CNY; Tuition fee is 7,500 CNY per student per term, 15,000 CNY per student per year.


Chinese Practice Class
Application fee is 660CNY; Tuition fee is 3,500 CNY per student .(If study period is more than four weeks, the fee will be determined in accordance with the above price.)


Class for Legal Chinese
Application fee is 660 CNY; Tuition fee is 29,000 CNY per student per year.


Class for Advanced Chinese Study on Weekend Days
Application fee is 660 CNY; Tuition fee is 3,000 CNY per student per semester, 6,000CNY per student per year.


Summer School of Chinese Culture
Application fee is 350 CNY; Tuition fee is 8000 CNY per student (including Accommodation and travelling)


Summer School for Chinese Intensive Training
Application fee is 350 CNY; Tuition fee is 8000 CNY per student (including Accommodation and travelling)


Pre-undergraduate
Tuition is 20,000 CNY per year; application fee is 660 CNY.

MBA Class in English
Application fee is 800 CNY per person; The whole tuition fee is 99,000 CNY in total per person. The tuition fee will be paid by year: 50,000 CNY in the first year; 49,000 CNY in the second year.
Pre-pay tuition is 2,000 CNY per person, which is included in the whole tuition fee.


“Master of Chinese Law” Courses in English (in September 2011)

Admission Requirements

Application Qualification
Any foreigners who present health certificates and other necessary documents concerning their academic achievement can apply to study at CUPL.

Pre-undergraduate
1. Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen,be in good physical condition and moral character.
2. Applicant must have the equivalent education of the high school graduates of the People’s Republic of China, generally above the age of 18. (If he’s less than 18 years old, the student needs to submit the notarial certificate by his guardian in Beijing, otherwise will not be accepted.)
3. Applicant should have certain Chinese communication skills.

Undergraduate
Applicants for Undergraduate Program are required to have a schooling equivalent to or higher than that for a Chinese senior middle school gr, aduate and must have HSK Band 5(or higher) Certificates. Those who have no HSK Band 5 Certificates should pass the University (CUPL) Chinese language entrance examination for undergraduate program. Applicants who could not pass the examination can register to study Pre-course.

Pre-master Courses
1. Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid foreign passport,be in good physical condition and moral character, and abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and the rules of CUPL.
2.The applicant applying for the master’s degree must have a bachelor degree and be under the age of 40.
3.The applicant’s academic grades, academic level, language ability and other conditions must achieve the entrance requirements for the applied major.
4.Applicant should have certain Chinese communication skills.

Master Program
Applicants for Postgraduate Programs are required to have a Bachelor’s degree, age under 40, and have passed the required examinations.

MBA Class in English
1.Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen,be in good physical condition and moral character and observe the law and decrees of China as well as the rules and regulations of the university.
2.The applicant must have a bachelor degree and be under the age of 50.
3.We ask for no TOEFL or GRE certificates about English language ability, but the applicants should be capable enough to accept the lessons taught in English.

“Master of Chinese Law” Courses in English (in September 2011)

2.The applicant applying for doctorate must have a Master’s degree and be under the age of 45.
3.The applicant’s academic grades, academic level , language ability and other conditions must achieve the entrance requirements for the applied major.
4.Applicant should have certain Chinese communication skills.

Doctor’s Program
Applicants for Doctorate Programs are required to have a Master’s degree or equivalent degree (6 years or above after obtaining the Bachelor degree ), age under 45, and have passed the required examinations.

Masters and Doctoral Programs in Chinese Commercial Law for International Students
Requirements for application:
1.Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen under the age of 50.
2.Applicant must agree to abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, the bylaws of the China University of Political Science and Law and be of good moral character respecting Chinese customs and culture.
3. Applicants for the doctoral program must have a master’s degree. If they do not have a master’s degree they may have an equivalent degree coupled with work experience in a related field. Applicants for the master’s program must have an undergraduate degree or an equivalent degree coupled with relevant work experience. (Acceptable work experience must be in the professions of law, economics, management, securities or finance.)
4.Applicant must be proficient in English.
5.Applicant must be in good physical condition and meet the prescribed physical standards

LLM Program in Chinese Law (English Mode)
The program is open only to foreign nationals and overseas Chinese from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Anyone with a formal undergraduate degree as recognized by the Ministry of Education of China is welcome to apply for admission. An undergraduate degree in law is, however, an advantage.

PhD Program (English Mode)
The program is open only to foreign nationals and overseas Chinese from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The applicant must possess a formal master degree recognized by the Ministry of Education of China, and demonstrate an ability to pursue independent academic researches in the area of study as proposed by him/her. Due consideration will be given to the relevance between the applicant’s educational backgrounds and working experiences on one hand, and the proposed research area on the other.

Chinese Language Studies Students

3. A copy of the passport with passport number page .(If the passport delays, the student also needs to submit a copy of the extension page of the passport.)
3.A copy of the visa page with the date of entry into China.( The students without a visa need not submit).
4.High school diploma and transcripts: original or copy. (The student, who hasn’t graduated, could submit the certificate issued by his school. And hand over the relevant certificates after coming to CUPL).
5.Copy of HSK level 5 or above certificate

Undergraduate Program
1.one photocopy of your valid passport.(passport type must be ordinary)
2.Passport-sized Photo
3.official transcript of your academic achievement up to the present, including courses taken and standard achieved.(original documents or notarized copies in Chinese or English)
4.Senior high school graduation diploma.(students expecting to graduate should provide an official letter stating expected graduation date)
5.One copy of Certificate of Chinese Proficiency.

Pre-master Courses
1.Degree certificate documents (fresh graduates provide certificates of expected graduation) should be Chinese or English originals or notarized copies.
2.Official transcripts of the graduation university: Chinese or English originals or notarized copies.
3.Personal statement (including research plan) written in Chinese or English: about 800 words for foreign students applying for master-degree education.
4.Recommendation from two professors or associate professors (or two persons with equivalent academic background).
5.Copies of Chinese language level certificates.
6.Copy of the passport; the passport must be valid ordinary passport.
7.Passport-sized Photo
8.Individual research achievement, contents and summaries of published academic articles and other original research achievement.
9.Other assisted application materials for themselves. 
All the above documents, except the recommendation, should be submitted: including both originals and copies.

Master’s Program
Applicants should submit the following materials in English:
1.School resume for bachelor’s degree and any higher degrees (originals)
2.Certification of the highest degree attained (certification of expecting to graduate for undergraduates) (originals)
3.Certification of relevant work experience for those who have equivalent degrees
4.Certification of English level for non-native English speakers;
5.A photocopy of valid passport
6.Passport-sized Photo

“Master of Chinese Law” Courses in English (in September 2011)
