Shandong Normal University (SDNU) is a key comprehensive university in Shandong Province with a history of over 60 years. SDNU has two campuses which cover a land area of about 260 hectares. At present, SDNU has an enrollment of 36, 000 plus full-time students, among which 5,000 are postgraduates. There have established 23 schools/colleges at SDNU. There are 8 post-doctoral research centers, 76 specialties authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 165 specialties for master's degrees and 74 specialties for bachelor's degrees. The set subjects and disciplines cover philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management and art.
SDNU has been keen and active to conduct international exchange and cooperation and up to now has established sisterly relationships with 77 universities from 17 countries and regions. SDNU is one of the first group of universities approved by the Ministry of Education of China to enroll international students including those who enjoy Chinese government scholarships. SDNU is also one of the first group of universities to enroll international student who enjoy Confucius Institute scholarships and Provincial government scholarships. Since 1983, SDNU has welcomed and educated more than 5,000 short-term and long-term international students from over 40 countries and has become a window of Shandong province for its opening to the world.
SDNU is situated in Ji'nan, the capital city of Shandong Province. Shandong Province is Confucius’ hometown, which is well recognized as the origin of the development of Chinese education and the birthplace of Chinese culture as well as the place to transmit Chinese culture. Ji'nan is also known as the “City of Springs”. As a beautiful tourism city, it is on the list of the first batch of the Famous Cities of Chinese History and Culture. The Main Campus of SDNU is located in the downtown area of the city near Qianfo Hill with mature peripheral environment, rich campus culture and strong academic atmosphere, which turns out to be an ideal place for the international students’ study ad life.
School of International Exchange of Shandong Normal University (SIE/SDNU) enrolls both Chinese and international students majoring in Chinese language. The teaching for international students is categorized into non-degree study, bachelor degree and postgraduate study. SIE/SDNU is well-known for the teaching quality. The French student studying at SIE/SDNU with a Chinese name of Ying Xiong won the championship in the 4th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Int抣 Students studying in China in August 2011. |

Insurance fees: 600 RMB/year
From the academic year of 2008-2009 on, overseas students who are about to stay in China for more than 6 months (including those who are already in China and about to continue to stay more than 6 months), shall be covered by Group Comprehensive Insurance in mainland China. The premium costs RMB 600 per year per person and the insurance value is RMB 510,000. The office of School of International Exchange can help to deal with the insurance business. |

• Academic diploma: A copy of the applicant's latest academic diploma or confirmation of enrollment in high school or university. • A copy of the applicant's passport (the page with applicant's photo) • One passport-sized photo
2. Degree Students • Academic diploma: A copy of the applicant's latest academic diploma or confirmation of enrollment in high school or university. • Academic record: The notarized copy of the academic records. • Two recommendation/reference letters if applying for doctoral program. • A copy of the applicant's passport (the page with applicant's photo). • Corresponding HSK (Chinese Language Proficiency) certificate • One passport-sized photo
3. More documents are required for those who are studying in another Chinese institution • A stamped approval letter from the Foreign Students' Office of the current university. • A copy of the valid visa or Residence Permit in China.
Enrollment Requirements
Applicants should be foreigners, healthy, friendly towards China and Chinese people, above 16 years old (if below 16, should be accompanied by a valid guardian), and willing to abide by the rules and laws of China and the regulations of Shandong Normal University. See below for more details:

Short-term Chinese Language and Culture Courses offered with the minimum of 10 students; Further negotiations on courses and other special arrangements can be carried out for groups over 10 people. Application Deadline: At least two months before the course. |
